Clara Bow Quote 2#
Clara Bow on leaving Hollywood:
"My life in Hollywood contained plenty of uproar. I'm sorry for a lot of it but
not awfully sorry. I never did anything to hurt anyone else. I made a place for
myself on the screen and you can't do that by being Mrs. "Louisa May Alcott"
Alcott's idea of a "Little Women".
Clara Bow Quote 1#
Clara Bow in Precode Hollywood:
"We had individuality. We did as we pleased. We stayed up late. We dressed the way we wanted. I used to whiz down Sunset Boulevard in my open Kissel, with several red Chow dogs to match my hair. Today, they`re sensible and end up with better health. But we had more fun."
Ginger Rogers Musical Genius
You've gotta love Precode Ginger Rogers. Although, she is generally only a supporting character, she definitely made an impact. This is a song called 'Music Makes Me' from the film 'Flying Down to Rio' with Dolores Del Rio, Gene Raymond and Fred Astaire. I love her little wriggle!!

Actress of the Month: Jean Harlow
For the month of May, the beautiful, sexy and bold, Jean Harlow. Need I say more.

The “Blonde Bombshell”, Jean Harlow’s persona eludes sex, sex and more sex. Born in Kansas City , Missouri Indochina . A free spirit whose dislike for undergarments was well known, Jean had a reputation for using ice cubes before a scene to give herself the characteristic peeked breast. In 1937 at age 26, Jean Harlow died suddenly of kidney failure ending a life that was both blissful and tragic but mostly iconic.
Cool Jean Quote:  As Vantine in Red Dust (1932)
Vantine: You can check the wings and halo at the desk.
Dennis Morgan (Clark Gable): I'll be right up.
Dennis Morgan (Clark Gable): I'll be right up.
Tallulah Bankhead Quote 1#
Tallulah Bankhead was a famous Precode actress whose films showed
her capacity for brilliant dramactic acting, but were mostly overshadowed
by her tulmotuous personal life filled with sex (both-genders), drugs and
alcohol.
Quote: "My father warned me about men and booze, but he never
mentioned a word about women and cocaine."
Swearing in Precode
Above is the ending clip from the hilarious 'Design for Living' (1932) with Miriam
Hopkins, Gary Cooper and Fredric March. This is a great example of swearing in
Precode. Listen for when Miriam is confronting her husband. What she call
Mr Eagleborough?
